We welcomed Caroline Louise Horne into the world on October 6 at 6:47 am. She was 7 lbs 8 oz and 20.5” long. Mom and Caroline spent 2 days in the hospital and then were able to go home a day early! Big sister Sarah is doing very well and is such a super helper!

Key West Butterfly Conservatory
We went to visit the Butterfly Conservatory today – it was really amazing to have so many different kinds of butterflies flying around! Sarah tried so hard to be very still but no butterflies landed on her. She did get to help feed the turtles and fish though, and we watched a butterfly leaving its cocoon. We also saw 2 tiny baby birds in their nest.

Alabama Trip
After finding oil on the beach, we decided to find some other touristy things to do around Mobile! Sarah and I found the Gulf Coast Exploreum (Mobile Children’s Museum) which was a blast for Sarah. We watched an IMAX movie about dolphins and learned a lot about physics (Sarah made a computer roller coaster) and about human anatomy. There was even a play area with a fishing boat and fish market. Another day we met Daddy for lunch at Sarah’s new favorite restaurant – the Blue Heron Cafe and then visited the Bellingrath Gardens on our way back to the hotel. There were plenty of dragonflies and butterflies along with a surprise visit by a bunny rabbit! Sarah and I even found time to go see the new 3D Shrek movie. We really enjoyed our week in Alabama and especially the cookout with steak, shrimp and all kinds of grilled veggies on our last night!

Dauphin Island
After a very hectic last couple of weeks it’s finally summer vacation! We are here near Mobile, Alabama visiting Kenneth where he is working. We arrived late Saturday night after a very quiet drive (Sarah watched some movies, read some books, and took a nap). Sunday we attempted to drive to Gulf Shores but were thwarted by heavy thunderstorms. Yesterday we scoped out the area and made a quick trip to Wal-Mart for some supplies.
Today we were able to meet Kenneth for lunch, and then we drove to Dauphin Island to go to the beach. Sarah seems to find a friend anywhere we go, and the beach was no exception! They played for a while in the water and the sand for a while until…Sarah found a blob of oil in the surf and thought it was chocolate. So she picked it up and got it all over her hands. Needless to say that is the end of the beach for us! It really was sad to see the beautiful beach and know that in a few days there will be oil everywhere. We’ll be sticking to the pool for now!

It’s a Girl!!
We’re having another princess! Baby had her second ultrasound today! Even though she gave me a big yawn at the beginning of the ultrasound, she’s an active baby. She must have been tired from moving around so much! She is such a wiggly baby that it took the ultrasound technician some time to find out she was a girl. She loves waving her arms and also grabbing knees and tucking. I got some really cool 3D pictures and a cd to take home. Can’t wait to pick Sarah up from school and tell her the news!

Ducks in the Pool!
Last night as we were cleaning up the dishes from dinner – Kenneth glanced out the window and noticed two ducks swimming around in our pool! We ran for the camera and a couple pieces of bread for Sarah. She had a blast seeing the ducks up close. They stayed for about 15 minutes before flying off to their next destination!
